A native of Callahan, Mrs Syze had been a resident of Fernandina Beach since the 1930s.
Besides being a skilled homemaker, she was an avid gardener. For many years she worked tirelessly in her garden and yard, weeding, planting and caring for her seasonal garden as well as her many flowers and plants.
She was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, having been through the Temple with her late husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband Karl Syze and her sons Earl Collins and William James Collins.
