Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline, with a rosary recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice, or Association for Retarded Citizens of Rock Island County.
Patty was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Rock Island, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Ferry Bragdon. She married William F. Quaintance on Jan. 12, 1946, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2005.
Patty graduated from the former Villa De Chantel, Rock Island; Marycrest College, Davenport; and Western Illinois University, Macomb where she received her M.S. in special education.
Patty retired as a special education teacher from Moline School District 40. She started the first special education program in the Quad-Cities in her home in 1952.
Patty was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Moline; Short Hills Country Club, East Moline; Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, Rock Island; Lindsay Park Yacht Club; Rock Island County SPED; and a life member of Lake Davenport Sailing Club. She enjoyed reading and gardening and had particular interest in history.
Survivors include daughter, Maura A. Quaintance, Iowa City; sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin A. and Gay Quaintance, Germantown, Tenn., Louis T. and Jean Quaintance, Berkley, Calif., and William F. Quaintance, Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis A. Spring, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by a brother, and three sisters.
