Funeral services for Irvin Denton, 85, of Richmond will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Father William D. Bartniski will preside over the services.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2010 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.


Irvin was born November 14, 1924 in East Bernard, Austin County, Texas to Joseph R Denton and Mary Pearl Horn great, great grand daughter of Thomas Slaughter and Gabriel Cole, early settlers of the Republic of Texas. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Irvin honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. In his retirement Irvin enjoyed spending time in his garden, cooking and sharing recipes with his friends. He was an avid nature lover and friend to all God's creatures great and small. Irvin passed away suddenly at his residence in Richmond on September 24, 2010.


He is preceded in death by his wife and love of his life Gloria Rankin Denton, parents, Joseph and Mary Denton; sister Irene Ingram, and brothers Clem Denton, Glenn Denton, Verl Denton, Millard Denton, Mace Denton and Aubrey Denton.


Irvin is survived by his brother, Joe R. Denton, Jr. and wife, Veronica of Richmond, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, and dear friend Clementine 'Johnnie' Zdunkewicz.
