His father was elected county sheriff during the Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barrow era when they stole a car in Carthage and robbed a bank in Oronogo. Parker lived several years with parents in 1300 block south Maple.
Parker was educated in Carthage publc schools, Joplin Junior college and served as 1st Lt US Army Air Forces, awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf cluster, see flower.

He and Helen lived and raised their kids in house next south of 1615 Grand avenue, the Queen Anne home built in mid-1890s by S.H. Houser, foundry owner**, later removing to route #4. Son Harry O Rogers II became mayor of Carthage.
**The land was acquired in 1893 and the house built sometime after that for $6,000 by S. H. Houser. Shortly after completion Houser declared bankruptcy and the home was purchased by Albert and Belle Carmean. Albert, as second or third owners, hea mine owner, circuit court clerk, hardware store owner, and bank chairman, passed away on July 12, 1933 after a two month illness. He was survived by Carl, his son, and Belle, his wife. His funeral service was held two days later within the house. (is currently, Grand Avenue Bed and Breakfast)

Parker O. Rogers
Parker O. Rogers, 87, Carthage, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007.
He was born Feb. 2, 1920, to Harry O. and Fern Parker Rogers. Parker attended Carthage schools and graduated from Joplin Junior College, now MSSU. He was also a graduate of the New York School of Business.
Mr. Rogers was a second lieutenant in the Army Air Force. He was a certified glider pilot and flew transport aircraft during his tour of duty in the South Pacific, primarily from Port Morsby, New Guinea.
Mr. Rogers married Helen Calhoon Aug. 16, 1942, in Carthage. She survives.
After the war, Mr. Rogers, along with his father [Harry O Rogers], was owner of the Western Auto store in Carthage.
In the early 1960s, Parker went to work for Smith Brothers Mfg. as general manager of M. C. Jackson Printing Co., which he purchased in 1973. In addition to M. C. Jackson Company, he owned Rogers Office Products and the Ben Franklin Variety stores in Carthage and Nevada.
Parker was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. He was on the founding board and chairman of Carthage Area United Way, a charter member of Magic Circle Investment Club and a member of the Broadview Country Club. Parker was also a member of the following organizations: Rotary Club International, Board of Directors of First Security Savings & Loan, Carthage Board of Public Works, Carthage Sportsman League and the Jasper County Industrial Development Board.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Parker is survived by his three children, Harry and wife, Cindy, of Carthage, Ann and husband, Doug Balfour, of Green Bay, Wis., and Charlie, of Carthage. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Sam and wife, Allison and Chris and wife, Tracy; along with three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ben and Abby Kate.
Funeral services are under the direction of Knell Mortuary and will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 2 o'clock at Grace Episcopal Church. Father Steve Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lukes Nursing Home or Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage, Mo., in memory of Parker O. Rogers.
The family will be at the home of Harry and Cindy Rogers, 1350 South Main in Carthage.
