Mary Florence Strong married John Elbert Bassett October 30, 1892 in Marietta, Love County, Oklahoma IT. Mary and John raised six children.
A devout christian she was a charter member of the Tenth Street Methodist Church, Amarillo, TX. Mary was a housewife that loved her family, and helped the poor and sick. The family tells how she always kept a pot of coffee and hot soup or stew on the stove for the Hobo's that road the rails and would come to her back door far from home and hungry.
She loved having all the family together for holidays and always cooked a duck for Christmas dinner. Active in her community, and church, she was also a member of Woodmen of the World Auxiliry. She was loved by all who knew her.
