Services for Lawrence H. Tompkins, 50, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Stephens and Rev. John Greene officiating and burial will be in Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Tompkins, of 206 Henderson St., died Sunday, April 1 afternoon in a Nacogdoches hospital. Born in Sabine County, he had been a resident of Lufkin for the past 12 years, and had formerly been a resident of Sabine County. Mr. Tompkins was an electrician for Texas Foundries and was a member of the Baptist church.
A veteran of the United States Army, he had served during the Korean conflict.
Survivors: wife, Dema Lee Tompkins; son, Walter Tompkins and step-son, Marvin Whinery; daughters, Sylvia Grace and Pamela; mother, Mrs. Abbie Harvey; sisters, Juanell Beckham and Mrs. Helen Williams; brothers, Wyman, Jerry, Jimmy, Tommy and Larry; 5 grandchildren.
