Garnett Marie Burr, a Prineville resident, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010. She was 90 years old.
Visitation will be held on Friday Dec. 3, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at Prineville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Prineville Funeral Home on Saturday Dec. 4, 2010 at 10 a.m. Pastor Mike Gaffney of Ascent Christian Church will officiate.
Garnett was born in Alliance, Neb. on July 12, 1920 to John & Esther (Fay) Lymath.
She attended grade school at St. Agness Academy and graduated from Alliance High School, Alliance, Neb. in 1940. Garnett married Leonard C. Burr in Bridgeport, Neb. on Sept. 4, 1941. They moved to Prineville in 1948. Garnett worked as a cook at Ochoco Grade School. She also worked at Sprouse-Reitz and at Prineville Golf and Country Club, Smith Grocery, and Prineville Bakery.
She had been a member of the Catholic Church and the Prineville Eagles Lodge since 1973.
Garnett was a very good seamstress and made all of her duaghter's clothes. She loved dancing - including country swing, shodlish, and she and her husband made up their own dancing. She loved playing games and singing. She was known as a very understanding lady and very supportive of her kids.
For the past 28 months, Garnett had been undergoing kidney dialysis three times a week.
Garnett is survived by her sons; Lee Burr of Prineville, and Johnnie and his wife Eva Burr of Oregon City, Ore.; daughters, Juanita Burr of Prineville, and Norma and her husband Joseph Waibel of Hood River, Ore.; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild, 11 great-grandchildren , five step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, and one sister-in-law.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, three sisters, and one daughter-in-law.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Memorial Hospice 1201 NE Elm St. Prineville, OR 97754.
