Clarence M. Messenger, 95, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at his home in Smithville.

Services will be Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with pastor Larry Rickey officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.

Friends may call Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Clarence was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Braxton County, W.Va., to James and Pamela Jane (Long) Messenger. Clarence married Stashie Marks on Nov. 17, 1940.

He was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. He was employed at Quality Castings and worked at Orrville Milk Company for more than 22 years. He was a lifetime member of Orrville VFW No. 3446. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Clarence will be deeply missed by his wife, daughter Carol (Sam) Fickle of Smithville; grandchildren Annette, Mark (Chris), Todd, Jwana; great-grandchildren Brittany, Aubrey, Emily, Cody, Damian, Angel; and brother, Raymond (Alice) Messenger of Smithville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Vickie Blair.
