Lola Best Stoner, 97, a lifelong resident of Appanoose County died Sept. 6, 1989 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville where she had been a patient for nine weeks.
She was born on May 7, 1892 near Walnut City in Walnut Township to Addison J and Ellen Dudley Best. She married Roy Stoner n Dec. 20, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1964.
She was converted and baptized in her early years and has been a faithful member to her church. For many years she worked as a practical nurse in Appanoose County for Dr. Harris of Mystic.
Survivors include a step-daughter Della Stoner Foster; one step-granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren two nephews; four nieces and may friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; three brothers; one sister; three half-sisters; three half-brothers; also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 8 at Johnson-Lange Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Marvin Martin officiating. A memorial has been established to St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital #2 nurses station and may be left in the funeral home.
