Anita Nix (1919-2010)

Anita Nix, 91, went to be with her heavenly father and beloved husband Floyd Leon Nix on Nov. 26, 2010. Mrs. Nix was born on Jan. 13, 1919, in Hagerman to Minnie (Morehead) Franks and Joseph Franks. Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Nix, as well as her brother, Robert L. Franks, and sisters, Cleta Griswold and Azel (Orr) Alexander.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Michael Nix of Irving, Kay (Orr) Beggs of Friendswood, Sandy (Orr) Boswell of California, Jerry Orr of Ravenna, Linda Armstrong of Denison, and Gail (Griswold) Dittbrenner of Florida.
She retired from Texoma Medical Center, however over the years she has dedicated her time to her love of gardening, church work and volunteering at the hospital. She was a medical transcriptionist for Madonna Hospital and TMC. She volunteered for many years in the ICU ward at TMC.
Believing strong in Christman values, Mrs. Nix was an ardent and faithful church member attending both the Bible Baptist Church and more recently the Oakridge Baptist Church.
Mrs. Nix was a graduate of Denison High School. She married Floyd Leon Nix, Nov. 5, 1937, in Durant, Okla. Mr. Nix died May 31, 1998.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, in Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Sam Garrett will officiate, and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Lewis "Corky" Armstrong, Jerry Orr, Dorothy Orr, Melba Cannaday and Blake Schroeder.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd Leon Nix; brother, Robert L. Franks; and sisters, Cleta Griswold and Azel (Orr) Alexander.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Oakridge Baptist Church, 5107 FM 120 E., Denison.
