Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville for Doris J. Nehring, age 83, of Paynesville, who passed away November 13, 2010 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Doris was born on October 30, 1927 in Paynesville to John H. and Grace (Caldwell) Adams. At age 2 her parents moved from Green Lake near Spicer to Vawter near Little Falls. She attended country schools there and in Paynesville, Royalton High School and graduated from Paynesville High School in 1945. Four of her school years were spent living with her blind grandmother to help with household chores. Immediately following graduation she joined her family, already living in Wausau, WI, where she worked as Personnel Secretary in a defense plant during WWII. In 1947, the family moved back to Paynesville. Doris worked one year in Little Falls, then at Nehring Locker Plant.

She married Donald Nehring on June 14, 1948 and lived on the family homestead farm until 1963 when they moved to town. They spent ten winters in Texas. Donald died in 1995. She worked seven years at Vern Johnson Motors and Loren Meyer Motors and two years as her son Warren's secretary/bookkeeper.

She was an active member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, now United Methodist, since 1948. She spent over 18 years teaching Sunday school, Adult Sunday School, and Bible School and was department Superintendent for several years. She also sang in the choir, served on the funeral committee, was the bulletin board decorator, a member of Martha's Quilting Circle and head of Prayer Chain.

In 2008, at age 80, she married Roger Theisen. Her last days were so blessed, spending time helping him with his wood crafts, knitting caps for children and oil painting scenery pictures. God has truly blessed her.

Doris is survived by her husband Roger Theisen of Paynesville, daughter Shirley Johnson of Hackensack, son Warren (Roxanne) Nehring of Murdock, 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, first husband Donald, sister Lois Holets and brother Leslie Adams.
