BLUE RIVER - Ralph Carroll Dieter, age 88, of Blue River, died on Wednesday, June 11, 1997, at the Boscobel Area Health Care. He was born on December 25, 1908, in Dieter Hollow, Richland County, the son of Theodore and Cora (Hubanks)(sic) Dieter. Ralph was united in marriage to Lois Marie Dobbs on July 3, 1926, in Galena, Illinois. He was an Operating Engineer for A.W. Oakes and Son in Racine, Wisconsin, for many years retiring in 1968. Before that, he was an area farmer in Crawford and Richland Counties. Ralph was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish and do archery. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois of Blue River; two sons, Carroll (Vivian) Dieter of Blue River and Jerry (Irene) Dieter of Muscoda; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren: 11 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Leslie (Lillian) Dieter of Richland Center; two sisters, Cleo Palberg of Blue River and Claudia Wayne) Newcomb of Shakopee, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James Nolan Dieter in 1946; his parents; a brother; and seven sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 1997, at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Blue River, with burial at the Boscobel Cemetery. Rev. Mike J. Wilier will officiate. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at the GODAGER FUNERAL HOME, Blue River, and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service of the church. GODAGER FUNERAL HOME, Blue River, is assisting the family.
