Dennis Lynch was born in Cork Ireland December 24, 1806. He married Ellen in early 1834 in Cork then he set sail for America. On the 20th of May 1834 Dennis arrived in New York City. His wife soon after joined him. They moved to Montgomery County in New York and began their family. They raised nine children there and sometime in the 1850's decided to move to Minnesota. In a covered wagon they began their journey west. They finally settled in Dodge Center, Dodge County, Minnesota and built their homestead.
