Ernest Truman Givan, 83, died unexpectedly Wednesday of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Warner Valley, Lake County, Oregon, in 1892. He was a longtime resident of the Bonanza area where he ranched until moving to Eagle Point eight years ago.
On Oct. 11, 1919, in Yreka, Calif., he married the former Joanne Driscoll, who survives. Other survivors are sons, Bob Givan, Ventura, Calif., Gordon Givan, Portland; Pat Givan, Richland, Wash.; daughters, Marilee Hynes, Carmichael, Calif., and Nancy Friar, Medford; brother, Dallas Givan, Fort Bidwell, Calif.; also 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
