Elliot L. "Son" Rush, 74, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at a local hospital after a short illness.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of The Nativity, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7 p.m. vigil service, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Elliot was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Salix, Iowa, the son of Wayne L. and Rose H. (Lussier) Rush. He graduated from Salix High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his discharge he farmed with his dad for a couple of years. He then moved to Sioux City and worked for Bomgaars.

On Nov. 5, 1960, he married Patricia E. Murray in Sioux City. After schooling to become an electrician, he worked for various electrical companies. In 1985 he became the business manager of IBEW Local 231. As business manager, he served on the Iowa Electrical Workers Council, Iowa IBEW Electrical Conference, 1996 and 1999 National Electrical Code Making Panel, Sioux City Electrical Board, United Way Board, SEDE Board and Loan Committee, Board of Directors for Dakota Western Minnesota Health and Welfare. He also served as an officer on the Northwest Iowa Labor Council and Northwestern Building Trades.

He was a member of the Church of The Nativity and the American Legion Post 697. Elliot enjoyed spending seven winters with his wife in Texas. He also enjoyed golf and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pat; two daughters and their husbands, Laurie and Chuck Renshaw of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Lynne and Ray Schuttpelz of Sioux City; a son, Chris Rush of Dallas, Texas; his mother, Rose Rush of Milford, Kan.; two brothers, Gene Rush and his friend, Linda of North Sioux City, and David Rush and his wife, Michele of Ankeny, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Madelyn and Tom Jauron of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Brenda and Don Weeks of Milford, Kan.; and four grandchildren, Matt Renshaw, Danielle Renshaw, James Rush and Erin Schuttpelz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Daniels, Greg Sexton, Gene and David Rush. Pallbearers will be Bob Early, Gary Cain, Dusty Small, James Rush, Matt Renshaw and Terry Bernhart.
