Marilyn was born on September 25, 1930, at Cook County Hospital in Cook County, IL. She was the fourth of five children born to Carl Joseph Borre, Sr. and Ella Rose (Dean) Borre. At age 15, the family relocated to a farm near Milton, WI. It was here she met and fell deeply in love with a son of a neighboring family. On August 21, 1948, Marilyn was united in marriage to Gale Leroy Wakefield, Sr. They shared 30 years together before Gale preceded her in death on April 5, 1979.
