Memorial service for Alta Johnston
BIRMINGHAM - A memorial service for Alta Johnston, 99, Denver, Colo., who died there Dec. 22, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. The body was cremated and burial was Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.
Mrs. Johnston was born Jan. 6, 1887 at Goodland, Kan., the daughter of Willis and Birdie Baldwin Dustin. She married John Johnston on Dec. 17, 1905 at Bentonsport. He died in 1949. She lived in Birmingham for 21 years, in Fairfield for three years, and she and her husband lived in Oskaloosa for many years. She had been a resident of Denver for 13 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Helen Dunn, Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Hazel Kagey, Wooster, Ohio. A son, a brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
