Steven Saenz Teran, 26, died Saturday morning in Las Cruces, where he resided. He was born July 13, 1963, in Silver City; was a member of the Catholic Church; was a 1981 graduate of Cobre High School; was a 1983 graduate of New Mexico Military Institute; and had received his bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice at New Mexico State University last December.

He was a first lieutenant and platoon leader with the National Guard, Battery C, Second Battalion (CHAP) 200th Air Defense Artillery in Alamogordo.
