Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. He served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 4th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on March 13, 1865 for "faithful and meritorious services". He was the younger brother of Union Brigadier General William H. L. Wallace, who was mortally wounded at the April 1862 Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee.
