She was born on January 29, 1936 in Monroe County to Burgess and Florence (Payton) Snow. She married, Joseph Stannard (Dec. 24, 1952) and he survives, also surviving are one daughter, Joy Ann Sims; one son, Mark W. Stannard; two grandsons, Travis and Cory Sims; father and step-mother, Burgess and Violi Snow; three sisters, Mrs. Doris Inman, Mrs. Rebecca Voorhies, and Mrs. Wilma Chestnut; two brothers, Roger Snow and John F. Snow.
She was preceded in death by two children Gus J. Stannard in 1962 & Pamela Joan Stannard in 1964 and her mother Florence Snow in 1964.

Her name is Hattie Joan but was always called Joan. Her husband said she did not like Hattie, so he opted to have marker with "H" as a middle initial.

That was my sister! She always wanted her way. But she was not mean about it. She would just wangle until we would agree. She always did it with her beautiful smile. Oh how I miss that!
