John Clyde Barnhart, 78, of Dewey Avenue, North Butler, died last night at the Butler County Memorial Hospital. Born in Chicora, Mr. Barnhart was a son of Samuel and Matilda Cobler Barnhart. He had been employed as a paper hanger and painter, and more recently, in the maintenance department of the Butler Shirt Company. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Mora Club, the Golden Age Club, and the Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Company, and was an honorary member of the WCTU. Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Sadie Schlagel Barnhart; three daughters, Mrs. John (Ethel) Turner of Freeport, Mrs. Bernard (Myrtle) Oesterling of East Butler and Mrs. Chester (Janet) Asplyn of North Duffy Road; two sons, Harry E. Barnhart of Ellwood City and Merle R. Barnhart of Arlington, Va.; and 11 grandchildren. BARNHART - Friends of John Clyde Barnhart of Dewey Avenue, North Butler, who died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1961, will be received at the Thompson-Paul Funeral Home, 124 E. North Street, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home, with the Rev. Roy Frazier, pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park. Arrangements by Thompson-Paul.
