VETERAN MINING MAN LONG IN FAILING HEALTH


Prominent Operator Expires at Granby -
Services and Burial Will Be Here


James Carey Squires 72, prominent veteran district mine operator and former Carthage resident, died at 9:30 o'clock this morning at his home in Granby. He had been in failing health a year and the last week had been bedfast.
Mr. Squires, who moved from Carthage to Granby 10 years ago, was with the Federal Mining Company there.

He was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia July 16, 1872. He came to this district many years ago and about 30 years ago he and his family moved to Carthage.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nell Squires;
two sons;
Herbert H. Squires, serving with the U. S. Army in France, and
Glen Squires of Kansas City

a brother;
Warder Squires of Charleston, West Virginia

a sister;
Mrs. W. M. Tompkins of Buchanan, Virginia

Mr. Squires was a member of the First Methodist church here and also of the Carthage Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services were held at the Knell service home
