A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 22, 1864, mustered into federal service there August 23 as a private Co. B, 200th Pennsylvania Infantry, promoted to corporal September 2, and honorably discharged with his company May 30, 1865.
He later became a merchant and died from "pyelonephritis" accompanied with "prostatic hypertrophy." His surname is also found spelled "Craull" and "Croll."
