Lester was the son of James Bartlett and Clara Boswell. He was born in Greenville. On 29 Jul 1944, Lester married Kathleen Collins in Bogata, Red River County, Texas.

Lester was a retired construction worker.

Bartlett of Denton; a daughter, Linda Grigsby of Denton; a granddaughter, Ann Grigsby of Denton; six sisters, Audie Daniels and Ellen Driggers, both of Paris, Jewel Freeze of Lufkin, Lessie Nelson of Mount Vernon, Goldie Hoover of Pattonville and Omega Smith of Sunray.

Funeral services were 13 Oct at the First Baptist Church in Bogata with the Rev. Greg Bowers officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Deport by Bogata Funeral Home.
