Elvira Ellen (Bender) Lampe was born December 18, 1900 in Sabula, Iowa
and was the daughter of Hiram John and Emily May Melvina (Connett) Bender. Elvira was educated in the rural Clinton County, Iowa schools. She married Loyal Lampe in 1918 in Maquoketa, Iowa. She later married George Atkins on March 28, 1937 in Clinton, Iowa. Elvira had seven children: Roberta (Lampe) Saylor, Laneda (Lampe) Greenwaldt, Ardelle Betty Maxine (Lampe) Kramer, Thelma (Lampe) VanZuiden, Rita
(Lampe) Bentley-Garshok, Fred Lampe, and Richard Lampe. Elvira and George farmed in rural Hanover and Galena for a number of years and later moved to Fulton, Illinois. Elvira died July 1, 1985 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery
