Obituary from Neodesha Register (Neodesha, Kansas), 1-Feb-1912, Thursday; page 5:

Miss Mary Ann Reynolds, aged 79 years, 5 months and 24 days, died at her home on South Fifth Street in Neodesha Sunday afternoon, January 28, 1912, at 3:10 o’clock, her death being due to an injury received about four weeks prior to her death, when she fell and broke her hip. Her physician held out no hope from the start and though she had the best of care, administered by her two sisters and a nurse, it was impossible for the fracture to heal.

Miss Reynolds was a native of Fairfield county, Ohio, and moved with her parents to near Charlton, Iowa with a small child. There she grew to womanhood and adopted school teaching as a profession. In 1873, Miss Reynolds came to Kansas and bought a farm near Brooks, five miles southeast of Neodesha, her sister Mrs. M. Woodmansee, having preceded her hither. For many years the two sisters owned farms near Brooks, which they managed alone, employing such labor a they needed. Miss Reynolds also taught school, both in Neodesha and in the county.

Miss Reynolds moved to Neodesha three years ago, but still owned the farm near Brooks in partnership with her sister, Miss A. R. Reynolds, of Canon City, Colorado, who has been here with her sister the past year. Mrs. Woodmansee has resided in this city several years. There is also another sister, Mrs. H. F. Bousquet, of Pelia, Iowa. Miss Reynolds belonged to no church or other organizations.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. J. Kansas Morgan. Interment was made in the Neodesha cemetery.
