BRADFORD-March 8, 1905, at his home near the city, from heart disease, Vauce Bradford, formerly the painter at W. S. Hospital, aged 60. He left his wife, nee Smith, and a son and two daughters. The funeral took place in the Methodist church on Friday and the burial in Thornrose.

V.F. Bradford Passes Away
Was a Drummer Boy in Confederate Army and Was Taken Prisoner
Mr. Vance F. Bradford, a well-known citizen of Staunton, died early this morning of heart failure, at his residence on North Augusta street, aged 58 years. Deceased was a native of Frederick but had spent most of his life in Staunton. when a mere youth he entered the Confederate army as a drummer boy, was captured, and imprisoned at Fort Delaware, where he was confined until the close of the war. Mr. Bradford was a painter by trade. He was a good neighbor and a kind husband and father. he is survived by his wife, who was Miss Ada Smith, and by three children; William A. Bradford, of Basic City, and Misses Virgie and Laura Bradford, of this city. Three sisters, Mrs. Albert Staff, of Martinsburg, Mrs. Charles Williams, of Stephens City, and Mrs. Robert Hosey, of Staunton, also survive him. The funeral will take place at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, from the Methodist church.
