John Dine, the grandfather, moved from the Carolinas to Kentucky where his wife died, leaving him with 4 children. In due time he married Rachel Cole and they had 12 children. The family came to Ohio in 1805 and settled on what was long known as the Dine farm,1/2 mile east of Miltonville. He died in 1848 and is buried in the Dine graveyard on the farm.
