Porter-- The dark winged angel visited the home of Mrs. Belle Wheeler, and claimed as his victim her mother, Arrie Baird Porter, wo was born in Chickasaw County May 17 1842 died July 24 1917 age 75 years 2 months and 17 days. She was a patient sufferer for many years but bore it all with christian fortitude. She joined the Methodist church at ten ears of age and lived a devoted christian until her death.
She was the daughter of Simon Baird deceased familiarly known to all his neighbors as Uncle Simon" and wife of CC Porter deceased a confederate soldier who lost his arm while engaged in the defense of his country.
She leaves for sons and three daughters to mourn her loss.
Funeral Services were conducted by Rev. Eugen Verell at Macedonia church followed by a large concourse of friends and relatives her remains were carried to Macedonia cemetery and there deposited to quietly sleep till resurrection morn.
