Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thompson, parents George and Bessie Wilder Canter; stepmother, Myrtle McKinney; daughter Doris Everhart and son-in-law Bob; son, Fred Thompson; infant children, Phyllis Ann and Cecil Thompson, Jr.; brothers, Carl, Leland, Frank, and Roy Canter; and great-granddaughter, Lyndsey Noe.
Survivors include her sons, Charles (Judy) Thompson, and William "Bill" Thompson, all of Morristown; grandchildren, Stephen and Michael Thompson, David (Marie) Everhart, Janet (Carl) Laferney, Donna (Tom) Munsey, Lisa Thompson, Katherine Noe, and Rebecca (Terry) Hamilton, 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; special nephew Steer Canter, several other nieces and nephews; and special caregiver Shirley Cansler.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday in the east chapel of Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Airy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Schooley officiating. Mrs. Thompson will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
