Ralph "Bud" Stone was born March 23, 1917, to John and Bertha Stone in Blue Mountain, Ark., and passed away at Parkland Manor Living Center, Prague, Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at the age of 93.
Bud and his family moved to Paden when he was a toddler. He farmed north of Paden and worked in the oil fields until his retirement in 1982. He married Alma Capps July 2, 1937. To that union four children were born: Bobbie, Ralph Jr., Loyd, and Clyde. Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years on March 14, 1998.
As a member of the Paden Church of Christ, Bud set a great example for Christian living. He was a willing worker, serving in any capacity needed. He followed the example of the Apostle Paul by being content in all things.
Bud was also preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Maggie Scott Dovell, Ruby Wallis, Lillian Moore and Eva Rutherford.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph Jr. and Wanda Stone of Newalla, Loyd and Darla Stone of Manhattan, Kan., and Clyde and Thung Stone of Paden; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Roy Hilburn of Bristow; brother and sister-in-law, J.L. and Wilma Stone of Prague; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Brian Berry officiating. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery in Paden. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
