Mr. Bass died Thursday, May 6, 1993. Born in Blythewood, he was a son of the late Ivey Talmadge and Lillie Millstead Bass. A World War II Army veteran and a Korean conflict Navy Veteran, he received the American Area Combat Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Combat Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 174 and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dollie C. Bass; a daughter, Vicki Bass of North Charleston; sisters, Dr. Esther Thomas of Kershaw and Lillie Mae Brown, Rebecca Gunter, and Sylvia Browning, all of Blythewood; and brothers, Talmadge Bass of Rock Hill, Melvin Bass of Myrtle Beach, Larry Bass of Topeka, Kansas, Donnie Bass of West Columbia, and Jerry Bass of Blythewood.
