Mr. Delp, who moved to Harford County from Virginia at the age of 16, worked on many farms throughout the county before buying his own farm in Forest Hill in 1955. In 1964, he bought a farm in Whiteford and continued farming until 1969.
After retiring from farming, and until 1978, he worked for Southern States Farm Cooperative. He served on the Southern States board of directors.
He was a member of the North Harford Baptist Church.
Born in Elk Creek, Va., he was the son of the late Robert E. and Phina Delp.
He and his wife, Maggie Faye Childers Delp, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary Aug. 28.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Delp is survived by four children, Boyd J. Delp and Rita Maxine Miller, both of Whiteford, Barbara S. Galetta of Prattville, Ala., and Brenda D. Mitchell of Delta; two brothers, Harry C. Delp of Elk Creek and Gordon H. Delp of Baltimore; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pastor John W. Manry and Pastor Robert E. Dennison conducted services Oct. 8 at the Harkins Funeral Home Inc. in Delta. Burial was in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
His grandsons, Timothy and David Delp, Brian, Stacy, Kelly and Scott Jones and Joseph Mitchell, served as pallbearers.
