John Lott Jr. followed farming and carpentry work throughout the western United States. He lived a time before his marriage in Washington State with his brother Albert "Bub" Lott and in Miles City, in Custer County, Montana. After he and Georgia married in Miles City, they went to Bon Secour, in Baldwin County, Alabama from about 1918 to 1920 where Georgia's brother-in-law and sister, Claude and Lalla Carson Weldon, had property. By 1921, they moved back west to Norton, in Norton County, Kansas and lived with John's brother Fred Lott for a short time. By 1923, the Lotts were in Muskogee, in Muskogee County, Oklahoma and passed through Ohio that year. There are other places that they may of lived and traveled to, but that information is lost to the ages. In 1926, the Lott Family moved back to Bon Secour, Alabama where John built a log cabin on the property that his sister-in-law Lalla Carson Weldon owned. John built his cabin where the logs were going vertical instead of horizontal .

John was very active until about 1950, then he lost complete eyesight and became feeble. In 1952, John and Georgia moved in with their daughter Frances Lott Taylor at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. His illness just before his death was lasted about 3 weeks. John was in hospital 10 days, he had hardening of liver and kidneys, several heart attacks and passed away in one.
