YOUNG MOTHER DIES
Mrs. John O. Burbank Ill Several Months Before Death
Mrs. Carrie Blanche Burbank, late of Philomath, and wife of John O. Burbank, died at 7:45 this morning at a local hospital where she was brought a short time ago for treatment. She had not been well for some time. The funeral will be from the funeral chapel of the M.S. Bovee Co. at 10 o'clock Saturday morning with burial at Burnt Wood. Rev. W.A. Nicoles of Philomath will officiate.
Mrs. Burbank was an only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Eakin of Rainier and was born at Kent, Ore., July 28, 1900. She married John O. Burbank who survives, with two little daughters, Frances, 7, and Virginia, 4. Mrs. Burbank was aged 28 years.
Besides her husband and children, Mrs. Burbank is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Eakin of Rainier, and four brothers, Earl Eakin of Moro, Robert and Andrew, of Rainier, and Melvin Eakin, of Airlie.
Baby Eakin, the tiny boy born at The Corvallis Hospital during the Christmas holidays and kept alive and started on the road to health by the nurses, was a nephew of Mrs. Burbank. The baby later died from a severe cold and complications.

Clark Eakin and his sons, Robert and Andrew Eakin, of Rainier, are visitors in Corvallis, coming in response to a message announcing the serious illness of their daughter and sister, Mrs. John O. Burbank of Philomath. Mrs. Burbank died this morning. Mrs. Clark Eakin, the mother, was to arrive from Rainier this afternoon, and another brother, Earl Eakin, is to come from Moro for the funeral Saturday morning.

*Carrie divorced William Lester McDowell in August of 1919 in Lincoln County, Oregon. They had one son, Vernon Lester McDowell, who died in 1993.

*The Reference to the Baby Boy in Carrie's Obituary was indeed her Nephew named Albert Clark Eakin. He was the Son of Melvin Sylvester and Sarah May (Burbank) Eakin.

*Carrie died at The Corvallis General Hospital from Pelvic Cellulitis.
