A. Fred Kammerer, 83, of Elkhart Lake, died in Plymouth hospital Sunday night following a short illness. Born in Offenbach, Germany, on March 16, 1867, the son of Ludwig and Katherine Kammerer, he came to the United States at the age of 17 and lived in Medford, Wis., before moving to Elkhart Lake.
He married Catherine Raeder on March 27, 1890. The couple lived in the town of Russell, then in Sheboygan for a year, next on a farm in the town of Rhine for 30 years until retiring to their present home.
Surviving are his widow; three children, Martin on the homestead, Mrs. Louis (Anna) Schwicht of the town of Russell and Mrs. Roland (Erma) Goelzer of Plymouth; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at Elkhart Lake Community Evangelical Church with the Rev. Paul Olm officiating. Burial will be in the Elkhart Lake Cemetery.
