Harry J. Wright, Former Mayfield Woolen Mills President, Dies

Harry Josiah Wright, Sr., 86, one of Mayfield's best known citizens and the son of one of Mayfield's first families, died shortly before noon today at the Fuller-Morgan Hospital.

A native of Mayfield, Mr. Wright was the son of Samuel Benson and Sallie Jane Richardson Wright. For many years he took a leading role in civic and church work in Mayfield and was a charter member and the first president of the Mayfield Chamber of Commerce.

He was also a charter member and the first president of the Mayfield Lions Club.

Mr. Wright was one of the first graduates of old West Kentucky College here and later attended Vanderbilt University and Eastman Business College at Poughkeepsie, N. Y. He was a member of the City Board of Education for several years and a member of the Kentucky Manufacturer's Association.

In 1893 Mr. Wright became cashier of the First National Bank here. He held that position until 1909 when he went to the old Mayfield Woolen Mills here as secretary of the firm.
