Mrs. Utsey, widow of Bert Glenn Utsey, died October 20, 2003, in Oakwood Health Care Center in Walterboro.

Born August 30, 1909 in Charleston, Mrs. Utsey was the daughter of the late Philemon Franklin Cone and Elieda Burns Cone.
She was a graduate of Memminger High School in Charleston and Winthrop College. After teaching elementary school in Walterboro for several years, Mrs. Utsey opened the Jack and Jill Kindergarten, where she taught for 30 years.
Mrs. Utsey was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, the Magnolia Garden Club, the Walterboro Woman's Club, the Aphrodite Fine Arts Club, the American Cancer Society and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
She was a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Colleton County Memorial Library.
Surviving are a son, B. Glenn Utsey, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Patricia, of Walterboro; grandsons, B. G. (Skip) Utsey, III, C. Madison Utsey, James H. Copeland, III and H. Trent Copeland of Walterboro; great-grandchildren, B. G. (Bugs) Utsey, IV, R. Burns Utsey, W. Parker Utsey, C. Madison Utsey, Austin S. Utsey, Tabor E. Copeland and Claire W. Copeland.
She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, brothers, P. F. Cone, Jr. and Julien Burns Cone 1920-1952 sister, Margaret Margaret Cone McGregor 1913-1938
