Irvin R. "Andy" Anderson, 80, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
He was born on July 15, 1923, in rural Rothsay, to Alfred and Irene (Zimmerman) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. He grew up in Oscar Township, where he attended School District No. 127. He worked as a farmhand in the Carlisle area. In 1944, he enlisted in the United States Army. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to the Fergus Falls area and worked for Pure Oil Company and later Fergus Oil Company.
On July 18, 1947, he married Marie Hoyt at the Rothsay Parsonage. The couple resided in Fergus Falls. From 1955 to 1979, he owned and operated Andy's 66. Marie passed away in March of 1985. On January 12, 1990, he married Carol Ouren in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Fergus Falls.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, the American Legion, Elks, Eagles, and the "Snow Eagles."
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and ice cream. He had a big heart and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by one daughter, Judy (Mark) Stock; one son, Jeffrey (Kristy) Anderson all of Fergus Falls; two step-sons, David (Kim) Ouren, of Fargo, and Dan (Lynn) Ouren, of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren, Teresa Stock, Allison (Joel) Myhre, and Kristoffer Anderson; five step-grandchildren: Erin, John, Derek, Susie, and Leisha Ouren; three sisters, LaVerne (Neal) Morstad, of Fergus Falls, Avis (Russ) Lindquist, of Minnetonka, and Audrey Johnson, of Barnesville; three brothers, Russell (Lucille) Anderson, of Rothsay, Darrell (Jane) Anderson, of St. Cloud, and Merle (Mavis) Anderson, of Anoka, Minn.; and four sisters-in-law, Marguerite Buechler, of Moorhead, Bonnie Anderson, of Fergus Falls, Beverly Anderson, of Fergus Falls, and Audrey Anderson, of Fargo. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents; two brothers, Dennis and Alden; one sister, Adelore Reichmuth; and one step-daughter, Denise Ouren.
Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. public prayer service at funeral home, and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church
