Mrs. Bessie Maude Strait, 78 years of age, of Waterfall R.D, died in the Fulton County Medical Center at McConnellsburg Thursday, March 19, 1970, at 6 p.m.

She was born at Waterfall on July 31, 1891, a daughter of David and Elisabeth (Baker) Black. She was united in marriage to David S. Strait who preceded her in death in 1949.

Surviving are two sons and three daughters; Merrill Black, Shippensburg; Wilda R. Strait, Waterfall; Mrs. Delbert (Mabel) Black, Rcotbury; Mrs. Floyd (Lois) Brantner and Mrs. Ray (Bette) Newman, both of Waterfall.

There are 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren surviving. Two infant sons and one great-great-grandchildren preceded her in death.

Two brothers survive: Charles Black of Waterfall R.D. and Lloyd J. Black of Mount Union. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

The deceased was of the Protestant faith. During her lifetime, she was a housewife. Her entire life had been spent in the Waterfall community.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m.from the House funeral chapel, Huston* town. The Rev. Bruce Bardine will officiate and interment will be made in Center Cemetery, Taylor Township, Fulton County.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel from noon Saturday until the hour of the services on Sunday. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
