Edward John Johansen, suddenly, of Franklin Park, IL. Devoted husband of LaVerne (Fenske), loving father of Lynn, dear grandfather of Linda Lou and Tracey Lynn. Brother of Helen (Wilbur M.) Hoehamer and Clarence (Joyce). Son of the late J. Edward and Elisabeth (nee Larsen).

Ed and LaVerne began writing to each other during World War II. One of the reasons LaVerne picked Ed to write to was because she liked the sound of his last name. They fell in love via Air Mail, Ed proposed, LaVerne accepted, agreeing that if there was no "magic" when they met face-to-face, they would move on. There was magic and more... Edward and LaVerne were married on April 6, 1946 and lived a story-book marriage until death parted them on March 23, 1983.

(This is a true story, I have the box of love letters to prove it! In all my life, I never heard them argue or raise their voices to each other. This was a true love story... their daughter, Lynn)

Their story is available in a book titled "Yardbird" and can be purchased at www.lulu.com
