The announcement made Tuesday afternoon that Mr. Charles T. Dickey who had been ill for a number of days, had succumbed, came as a great shock to the community, although it was generally known that dangerous symptoms had developed within a few hours. Mrs. Dickey had been at his bedside but a short time and she deeply regrets that she was not sooner notified. However, the necessity did not seem apparent in as much as she was with a sister who has been in a dying condition for a number of weeks. Mr. Dickey was slightly ill in Chicago just before his arrival home and an effort was made to have him remain there, but without avail. He is said to have suffered from a complication of diseases, and neither he himself nor his attendants realized his dangerous condition.

Few there are in the ordinary walks of life who enjoy as wide an acquaintance as did Mr. Dickey. He was gental, whole souled and open hearted, and was a true friend to his friends. He always had a good word to say to people and of people, and all who knew him will sincerely mourn his demise. At the time of his death Mr. Dickey was traveling salesman for a prominent manufacturing company and enjoyed the full confidence and esteem of his employers. He was born in this city and had made it his home all his life with the exception of a few years when he held the office of deputy United States marshal, during which time he resided in Detroit. His age was 62 years. He leaves a widow and two sons who have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

The funeral service occurred Thursday afternoon at three o'clock at Seven Oaks, the home of Mr. Frank W. Dickey. Rev. J.E. Walton will be the officiating clergyman. Interment at Oakridge.
