A. Gerald Smithers died in the Wabash Memorial Hospital. Son of WIlliam and Josie Howard Smithers, he married Nola V. Gordy in Clinton on Oct. 12, 1929. He was a retired carman for the Norfolk & Western Railway Co. and was an elder of the Mound Chapel Church. Survived by his wife; daughters Betty Marlow and Phyllis Ground and a sister Elvira Smithers. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
