Husband of Lucille Natalie (Reidland) Smith, [Married: January 5, 1944]. Father of Elisabeth Ann "Betty" (Smith) Barrett.

Dale Cutler Smith was born October 11, 1923 at home in Huffman, TX. He attended school in Huffman, later graduating Valedictorian of the 1941 Class of Crosby High School. During WW II, he was a naval pilot flying the PBY Catalinas (float planes), delivering supplies and flying rescue and recovery missions in the South Pacific. During flight training in Jacksonville, FL, he and Natalie Reidland were married on Jan. 5, 1944. After the war, Dale attended the University of Houston, graduating with a degree in Pharmacy. He worked in the Houston area at Neighborhood Pharmacy, and Lang’s Pharmacy, later realizing a life-long dream of owning his own store in Huffman where he served the community at Smith’s Pharmacy on FM 2100. He served over 50 years as a pharmacist.
Dale’s activities included: working for the Houston Oilers along the sideline, membership in Masonic Lodge 1428 of Huffman where he served as Worshipful Master 1987- 1988, and attending and organizing reunions for the VPS-54 fliers, his WW II squadron, where he and Natalie reunited with old friends and visited new places.
After retirement, Dale and Natalie enjoyed a favorite hobby, traveling Texas taking pictures of all the County Courthouses. They also often traveled to Boulder, CO, to a favorite place to stay in Chautauqua Park.
Dale was a kind and caring person, with a great sense of humor, who made many friends who will miss him greatly.
