Freeman Mitchell Branham,age 74of Summer Shade, died Tuesday, September 14 at Hospice of Southern Ky in Bowling Green. He was the son of the late Joe Bill and Delma Emberton Branham and was a self employed carpenter. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a Veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his children, Becky Dubree, Greg and Tammy Branham and his ex-wife and life long love, Anne Welsh all of Summer Shade; four granddaughters, April (Alex) Brown, Terran Pedigo, Candice and Hallie Branham; two sisters, Bessie Holmes of Glasgow and Emogene Faith of Louisville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Joe, Jesse and Magdaline who died in infancy, Pauline Hurt,Charles Branham, Lola Bell Bacon, Wilma Pickerell and Mildred Perkins.
He had 8 years total in the U S Army and Army Reserve, was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant and was very proud to have "soldiered" for his country. He was a master carpenter with a career spanning over 50 years and built countless homes and buildings all over this area and took great pride in his work. A loving husband and father, favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews, "Pa" to his grandchildren, a good friend and neighbor to countless others, an honest and decent man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be Friday,September 17 at 2:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.
