MRS. J. I. PRICHARD,
HOWARD PIONEER, DIES
Mrs. Mary Ada Prichard, 77, widow of J. I. Prichard, died at her home here at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Condition of the pioneer resident of Big Spring and wife of the man who set a record of longevity as a Howard county official had grown progressively weaker recently. In delicate health for several years, she had been bedfast since suffering a hip fracture in a fall 17 months ago.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Christian church, where she had held membership for 55 years. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery beside the graves of her husband, the veteran Howard county clerk who died suddenly on Sept. 11 1934, and a son, James I. Prichard, Jr., fatally injured in a car crash near Stanton on June 23, 1929. Eberley Funeral home is in charge.
Mr. and Mrs. Prichard were married June 2, 1891 near Brownwood and came to Big Spring more than 55 years ago. Two Sundays later they became members of the First Christian church. Preeminently a homemaker, Mrs. Prichard nevertheless found occasion to accompany her husband on countless nocturnal trips to his office in answer to night calls.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. R. L. Minter, Fort Worth, Mrs. C. Neal Greenfield, Fort Worth, Mrs. George Parks, Midland; two sons, C. Ed Prichard, Midland, and Robert E. Prichard, Dallas. The son-in-law and daughters-in-law will be here for the services as well as five grandchildren, Robert L. Minter, Jr., Fort Worth, Mrs. Ruth Castillion, Fort Worth, C. Ed Prichard, Jr., Midland, James Robert and Virginia Margarita Prichard, Dallas; and two great-grandchildren, Tom and Carolyn Castillion, Fort Worth.
The Rev. Lloyd Thompson, pastor, is to officiate. Pallbearers will be W. E. Carnrike, Harve Clary, R. V. Middleton, L. S. Patterson, George Porter, Elmo Wasson, Larson Lloyd, T. S. Currie, E. L. Deason and W. B. Martin.
