The community was saddened when it learned that Mrs. Jane Berkstresser had passed away at her home on Wednesday evening. While not in the best of health, she was up and around the house less than one-half hour before she died. Those from a distance who attended the funeral from the home of her daughter Mrs. Charles Black were: Mr. and Mrs. Harty McClain, Mrs. Samuel Frederic, and Leo McClain of the Pittsburgh district; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall McClain of Carlisle; Mrs. Beatrice Jones and daughters of York. Mrs. Berkstresser was one of our grand ladies, and the last remaining member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Charles Black, by nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Her body was laid to rest in Center Cemetery on Friday afternoon.
