Obituary: Odis Lawrence Hilliard, 80, of Shenandoah, died on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at his home. He was born on Sept. 24, 1926, in Shenandoah and was a son of the late Jacob B. and Della Jane Hilliard. Mr. Hilliard was a Navy Seaman First Class during World War II and received an Asiatic Pacific citation. His wife of 48 years, Phyllis Comer, preceded him in death. He is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Powell of Shenandoah, Kathy Hilliard of Duluth, Ga., and Susan Willis of Bridgewater; and a granddaughter. Burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
