Vera Mae Abernethy Mullen, 101, of Lutheran Home in Hickory, formerly of Startown Road, Maiden, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005.
A daughter of the late Daniel Edgar and Mary Ida Rhyne Abernethy, she was born Feb. 5, 1904, in Catawba County.
She retired from B&K Hosiery in Hildebran in the mid-1960s and later worked for several years for her son, Ted, in The Music Shoppe in downtown Newton. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton.
