She married the widower Samuel Foster Whisenant October 30, 1889 in Etowah County, Alabama. Samuel had four sons and a daughter by his first wife Rebecca Hillard Whisenant, and Kate became stepmother to them. She and Samuel had three sons in Etowah County, Alabama: Quitman Whisenant (1890 - 1962), Lawrence William Whisenant (1892-1972) and Foster Whisenant (1894). They moved to Angelina County, Texas where son Forney Vaughn Whisenant (1898 - 1983) was born. After the death of her husband Samuel October 10, 1916, Kate's maiden sister Sarah Oliver (1853- 1929) came to live with her, and is buried also in Angelina County, Texas. I hope this information will reunite the families there, and reunite Kate with her parents in Alabama. I'm grateful to you for posting her memorial.
